St. John’s Antigua, July 25th, 2024 – The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank treated delegates of the Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant to a ‘Career Day’ at two of its branches on Tuesday 23rd, July 2024.
The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank, title sponsor of this year's pageant invited the thirteen contestants to its Coolidge Head Office to provide a unique opportunity for them to learn about the various career paths within the Bank.
The contestants were greeted by the General Manager, Michael Spencer, who opened the event with words of encouragement. Lizelle Roberts from the Human Resources Department followed, discussing the functions of her department while offering valuable advice on preparing for the world of work. The delegates also received practical tips on appropriate interview attire and how to stand out as a candidate.
Chairperson for the Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant Subcommittee, Heidigail Francis said, “The lessons being learnt will aid in preparing the contestants not only for employment but are also relevant for pageantry and life.”
Samantha Anthony-Gore from the Bank's Information Systems Department highlighted the importance of having a robust banking system to ensure transactions are executed efficiently and securely.
Finally, the delegates visited ECAB's Redcliffe Street Branch where Nichole Ramsey- Matthias and Noel Whyte from the Support Services Department introduced them to ECAB’s electronic banking services and the role the department plays in processing these transactions for the Bank.
ECAB’s Marketing C Communications Officer Jessica Russell said, "We thought it would be a great idea to give the students more insight into the opportunities available at our Bank. Often, people limit their idea of banking to customer- facing jobs. However, there are a wide range of career opportunities available."
Deputy Chairperson of the Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant Subcommittee, Cuthbert Forbes expressed his gratitude saying, "Thank you for allowing our delegates to tour two of your branches and being an exemplary sponsor."
The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank has invested EC $100,000 into this year’s teenage pageant demonstrating its commitment to youth development.
The ECAB Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant takes place on July 29th at Carnival City (Antigua Recreation Grounds) at 7 p.m.
